Nebraska Wesleyan University seeks applications for a full-time Specialist for Interlibrary Loan & Technical Services in the Cochrane-Woods Library, reporting to the Head of Research Services & Archives. This position is responsible for interlibrary loans (the sharing of materials between Nebraska Wesleyan University and other libraries), copy cataloging library acquisitions, assisting with the management of both print and electronic serials subscriptions, and supervising a student assistant. The specialist in this position is an essential member of the library's team.

  • Processes all interlibrary loan requests from students, faculty, and staff, including searching, formulating, and making requests
  • Processes interlibrary loan items received, including monitoring due dates, and returning of items to lenders
  • Processes all materials lent to other libraries
  • Updates interlibrary loan policies and processes as needed
  • Copy catalogs basic materials purchased for the library collection
  • Supervises the receipt, distribution, and binding of all print serials
  • Creates monthly claims for missing periodical issues
  • Gathers usage for e-serials on a monthly basis and updates serials catalog records as needed
  • Supervises the work of a technical services student assistant, including physical processing of materials purchased for the library collection; sorting and distribution of incoming/outgoing mail; and stacks maintenance

Qualifications and Abilities:

  • A bachelor's degree and up to two (2) years of pertinent experience may be required depending upon educational level of the applicant.
  • Familiarity with software for ILL, cataloging, and serials processing or ability to learn new software
  • Demonstrated commitment to patron service
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, be detail oriented, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work as part of team with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students
  • Ability to demonstrate reference and research skills as well as clear writing skills
  • Ability to exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
